Pricing:

What a renovation is going to cost is dependent on a variety of factors. We cannot even estimate the cabinet cost since custom and semi custom cabinet manufacturers charge for:

›  the individual cabinet (size and type)
›  storage options included in the cabinet
›  the type and number of doors/drawers used
›  the finish on the cabinet
›  the wood species used (i.e. Maple or Cherry)

In Philadelphia a kitchen renovation of a 200 square foot kitchen costs on average between $64,917 and $123,014. A 5’x7’ bathroom remodel averages between $19,614 and $61,406. This includes cabinetry, plumbing fixtures, flooring, tile, lighting, paint, appliances (for the kitchen) and installation. This is according to Remodeling Magazine‘s 2010/2011 report.

There are some other pricing rules of thumb.

Total price of a kitchen remodel runs: 1/3 cabinets, 1/3 (appliances, countertops, hardware, tile and lighting) and 1/3 installation. This is a very general rule and is dependent on the choices of the client.

In order to determine a budget, experts suggest that the kitchen should cost a minimum 10% of the market value of your house
